In a world where AI is increasingly used and employers’ needs are shifting, it’s important to emphasize the soft skills less likely to be replaced by emerging technology. By focusing on human emotions and abilities, we can help students prepare for life in an increasingly automated world. We'll look at some of the things we can do to build in those soft skills and basic literacy to humanize our lessons for the benefit of the students.
Philip has worked in ELT since 1988 in many different roles and in over 30 countries, mainly in teacher training and academic management. He holds the Trinity Licentiate Diploma in TESOL and for the past 20 years has worked as a freelance teacher trainer. He has taught on CELTA courses, Business English programmes, and EU-funded teacher training sessions. Since 2020, he has been working at a Czech secondary school, where he teaches conversational and exam English.
